Good and Bad Design features of a Blog

Since I've been a blogger for plenty of time now, I have too encountered many blogs that are either poorly desinged or have too much going on it it. For example, a poorly designed blog would have a default background or extremely small cursor or texts. As for the Overly desinged blogs, the text is either huge, too many colors in the page, animated backrounds or gif as a backgorund, or animated cursor and my least favorite, music being played in a blog.  This not only distracts me from reading a text post or observing a picture, but also makes the blog not look decent. I would understand if it was a personal blog, but seeing if it really was a personal blog, would anyone enjoy such amatuer features that were put in the blog? A huge disturbance that approaches most readers is the background interrupting with the text. I have had several experiences where I would get lost in somone blogs because I couldnt find links. I also couldnt find proper navigation buttons. I'm not very familar with the use of blogger. I'm more informed with designing in tumblr and html codes a bit. Hopefully within more experience with blogger i could change certain features to make the blog a bit more decent.
